Vik made another appearance in Largs for our Yuletide Night which is held every year in early December, when most of the shops are open late, there are fairs, Santa parades to his grotto and lots of people come from outside the town too, to enjoy the festive atmosphere and do some last minute Christmas shopping. In 2008, Wee Vik was invited to join the parade behind Santa's sleigh, so we had to find our own life size Vik to wear his costume! An Italian friend offered to dress up as Wee Vik, so we have a first - an Italian Scandinavian! He proved a great success, walking around the town on Yuletide Night, chatting to everyone and showing off his brand new shield which bears the Largs town crest - a Viking ship together with a thistle - and our logo, Litter Free Largs, so that no one is in doubt what he represents! Wee Vik the doll and the full size shield is now on permanent display in our local Information Bureau, so if you visit Largs, come in and see them. The Bueau is run by local volunteers who want to introduce our delightful town to visitors as well as help local people with any information they seek. We're open all year round, every day except Christmas and New Year.
